Here's Your Sign

Hi Friends

I was driving to Rancho this morning to teach a class at Hobby Lobby. I looked down at my hands, which are ink stained from playing with alcohol inks and talking about the artist Chihuly with my art buddy Madi last night. I was thinking about the three other classes I'm teaching this week and I realized how happy I am and how much I really do love my life.

I thought about how a few years ago I took the idea of Create the Life You Want to Lead to heart. Then I got to Hobby Lobby and saw this sign, I just had to stop and snap a quick photo because it was perfect. Sometimes you don't even have to ask the universe for a sign, it gives you one all on its own, all you have to do is pay attention.

I'm not saying it's been easy. First I had to figure out what it was that I really wanted. I did a lot of journaling and soul searching. I took some great classes that helped with this, including a few from Brave Girls Club. Then, I got to work. Working for myself is a lot harder than working for someone else, that's for sure. But, I absolutely love what I do. I really do live a groovy life.

I want to encourage you to create the life you've always imagined. Take baby steps, there's no rush. It's taken me years to get here. Get yourself a good support system, it's a myth that you have to do it alone. My husband is amazingly supportive and I have a network of friends that lift me up and keep me going. Don't think that you have to have it all figured out, I've tweaked things as needed along the way and now I feel like it's all come together. Be realistic..whoever said that whole "Find a job that you love and you'll never work a day in your life" was full of you know what! I've never worked harder but I've also never been happier. Also, don't expect it to be perfect, perfection is a myth. We totally struggle with money because of the nature of what I do, sometimes I have lots of parties and sell a bunch of art, others, not so much. But my life is so rewarding in other ways...my art brings joy to people when they purchase it, my students walk away from lessons with me full of happiness and pride in what they accomplished. You can't tell me that's not a groovy life!

Dream big and work hard, I promise I'll be here cheering for you the entire way!
